somatic experiencing
Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a body-centered technique that helps people recover from traumatic events by focusing on body sensations and physical responses. The idea behind this method is that traumatic experiences can get “stuck” in the body and cause symptoms like anxiety, depression, physical pain, and other mental and physical challenges.
I help my clients get to know their bodies and their unique nervous system responses through education, movement, breathing exercises, and other techniques that support building a safe connection with their bodies. We then gradually work towards processing physical responses that may be associated with traumatic event(s).
My goal when using Somatic Experiencing with any client is to process traumatic experiences in a safe and controlled way so that they can feel more empowered by their connection with their body.
