Sarah is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and yoga instructor in Washington, DC. She holds a Masters degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Chicago and has completed a 200 hr Registered Yoga Teacher Training program in Washington, DC. She has a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology and Dance from Skidmore College.

 

Sarah believes that given the right conditions, all people have the capacity to heal. She knows that it can be overwhelming and disorienting when painful emotions and behaviors disrupt our everyday lives, resulting in feeling disconnected, stuck and confused. Sarah uses a warm, compassionate, and authentic approach to hold space and introduce curiosity and kindness to these challenging experiences. 

Sarah collaborates with clients to create meaningful therapeutic goals in order to experience desired growth and healing. Sarah's approach is rooted in the client-therapist relationship and the understanding of how trauma & other life experiences are processed in the body. Sarah uses client's strengths and resiliencies to support with creating agency, empowerment and achieving a greater sense sense of well-being. 

Sarah uses a holistic approach, incorporating various modalities including Psychodynamic and relational theory, Somatic Experiencing, mindfulness, and trauma-sensitive yoga to support clients with building a deeper relationship with our body's responses to our emotions and to aid with processing trauma.

Specialties & Populations

Sarah specializes in working with teens and adults who have experienced a range of traumatic experiences including interpersonal violence and intergenerational trauma.

 

Clinical Experience

Sarah has a background in working with community organizations in both DC and Chicago, providing individual and group therapy to survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Sarah has provided holistic assessment and treatment for a range of mental health challenges including: childhood and adult trauma, mood concerns (anxiety and depression), grief and loss, relationship difficulties and major life transitions.

Other Skills and Experiences

Sarah is a 200-hr Registered Yoga Teacher and has experience teaching yoga to marginalized populations and has training and experience in teaching trauma-informed yoga.
